2019 Gala Nets $200,000 for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Rich traditions, beauty and wilds of Africa set the scene for the 30th Annual NCMC Foundation Gala, presented by Noble Energy. Nearly 700 guests turned out for the “Africa” themed black-tie Gala held at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Spa, & Conference Center, which raised over $200,000 in net proceeds for the North Colorado Medical Center (NCMC).
This year’s recipients of the 2019 NCMC Foundation Legacy Award have a simple belief – all of us can do something to help others, and to leave the world a better place. In recognition of that belief and their generous long-time support of NCMC, we were honored to celebrate Steve and Colleen Carrico – Carrico Family Foundation.
Proceeds from the Gala benefit the Monfort Family Birth Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with the purchase of Panda Warmers and Giraffe OmniBed Carestations (Isolettes) for premature babies. A Level III NICU means we can take care of premature babies that are 28 weeks or older. Families in our community who had a premature baby were faced with commuting one – two hours away. Since hiring two neonatologists and developing from a Level II to Level III NICU, they can now receive care close to home.
Guests were treated to African inspired gourmet cuisine, wine, specialty drinks, a wine pull, and a silent auction. Entertainment highlights included the African beats of DJ Ietef, Bataki’s Magic Rhythms African Drums and Dance Ensemble, Colorado Dance Collective, and performances by The JBX “Jerry Barnett Experience” featuring Selasee & the Fafa Family. Special guest, Stan Bush, radio and television personality, emceed the evening program and one lucky guest won a pearl strand with matching pearl and diamond earrings, courtesy of Weiss Jewelers of Greeley.
“It is a privilege to raise funds for the NICU babies and to celebrate Steve and Colleen Carrico – Carrico Family Foundation as this year’s Legacy Award Honoree,” said NCMC Foundation Development Program Director Diana Wood. “The generosity of the NCMC Foundation’s many donors who supported the 2019 Gala is truly appreciated and I can’t thank our sponsors, underwriters, committee members and volunteers enough for their ongoing support.”
The NCMC Foundation, founded in 1975, has served as NCMC’s philanthropic partner in supporting healthcare at NCMC and in the community. During that time, the Foundation has been entrusted as stewards of over $50 million in charitable gifts.
