2022 Gala Nets over $220,000 for Monfort Family Birth Center NICU & Pediatric Department
Once upon a time, not so long ago, we gathered for an enchanted evening to support our community’s tiniest patients. The 33rd Annual North Colorado Medical Center Foundation Gala, “Once Upon a Time”, presented by Chevron, was held Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Embassy Suites by Hilton Loveland Hotel Conference Center & Spa. With over 400 guests in attendance, and the incredible generosity of so many sponsors and donors, over $220,000 net proceeds were raised to purchase a Transport Isolette for the Monfort Family Birth Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at North Colorado Medical Center (NCMC). With the purchase of a Transport Isolette, a specialized ground neonatal transport team based at NCMC which functions as a complete mobile intensive care unit will decrease cost of care for patients, increase timeliness of a transport, and improve efficiency and equity of care overall. Remaining proceeds will establish a NICU & Pediatric Patient Support Fund to assist patients and their families experiencing financial hardship.
Each year the NCMC Foundation honors an outstanding individual, organization, or family for distinguished service and leadership in healthcare in our community. It was a privilege to honor Ken Schultz with the 2022 Legacy Award for his long-time support of the NCMC Foundation and visionary in establishing The Weld Trust.
Guests were transported to a magical storybook land with a forest, castles, and fairytale characters. They enjoyed bewitching brew cocktails, wine, a gourmet dinner, and some even dared to eat the apples displayed at each table. Former Denver Broncos running back Reggie Rivers emceed this year’s event, with fundraising activities including a paddle raise, wine pull, and “Wish Upon a Star” drawings comprised of a Beer Fridge & WeldWerks Beer; Great Wolf Lodge Anaheim, CA Package; Louis Vuitton Bag; and Oxotic Denver Rally 65-Mile Tour Experience. There was dancing to the whimsical musing of the Jerry Barnett Orchestra, just-for-fun gaming tables, and one lucky guest won an exquisite 2-karat diamond tennis bracelet set in 14-karat white gold donated by Weiss Jewelers valued at $5,000.
“It was wonderful to be back in the ballroom and see so many of our ongoing and new supporters in person,” said Diana Wood, NCMC Foundation Development Program Director. “We had a lot of fun with this theme, but in all seriousness, we are still navigating fundraising in a pandemic. The Transport Isolette and the newly established NICU & Pediatric Patient Support Funds will help our community’s tiniest patients and their families when they are facing overwhelming challenges. We were truly blessed by the outpouring of support from so many people, and I can’t thank everyone enough for their generosity.”
The NCMC Foundation, founded in 1975, has served as NCMC’s philanthropic partner in supporting healthcare at NCMC and in the community. During that time, the NCMC Foundation has been entrusted as stewards of over $55 million in charitable gifts. The End
