Western States Burn Center
For nearly three decades, the North Colorado Medical Center has provided advanced care for serious burn injuries through its Western States Burn Center. The center, located at the hospital’s main campus, is one of only 125 specialized burn care centers in the United States.
Under the direction of Cleon Goodwin, MD, the Western States Burn Center at NCMC provides the most sophisticated treatment and technology currently available for the care of burn injuries. The center focuses on caring for adult burn patients and recently expanded to include 10 acuity-adaptable rooms. In addition, burn center staff can care for four additional burn patients if the need arises.
This newly expanded burn center serves a region comprised of eight states: Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming.
The WSBC team provides optimal patient care through a multi-disciplinary team approach. The team includes physicians, physician assistants, physiatrists, nurse practitioners, nurses, physical, occupational and respiratory therapists, social workers, dieticians, pharmacists and psychologists.
In October of 2009, the Denver-based Boettcher Foundation agreed to provide a 1:1 matching grant of up to $100,000 for the Western States Burn Center. To qualify for matching funds, gifts must be from local individuals (excluding corporations) and will be matched up to $15,000 per individual (not to exceed $100,000 total.) Gifts must be received before October 21, 2010. To make a contribution, go to the Give a Gift Tab on this site or click Give Online Now.
